Frank X Venzara, III, MD

Dr. Venzara founded Florida Retina Specialists in 2014 and is a life-long native of Merritt Island, Florida. He received a Biomedical Engineering Degree and Medical Degree from the University of Miami, Miami FL. Dr. Venzara spent a full year performing research at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute where he published articles in peer reviewed journals and presented his work at multiple national meetings. Dr. Venzara received the Edward Norton Award for Excellence in Research at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. Dr. Venzara went on to Texas A&M Scott & White Eye Institute where he completed a 4 year internship and ophthalmology residency training program and served as Chief Resident. Following residency, Dr. Venzara completed a 2 year surgical retina fellowship at one of the most surgically intensive retina programs in the country. While at the Retina Consultants of Alabama fellowship program at UAB Callahan Eye Hospital, Dr. Venzara performed over 1,100 retina surgery cases, which is greater than 2.5 times the national average for retina fellows. Dr. Venzara is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists, American Academy of Ophthalmology, Florida Society of Ophthalmology, and the Christian Ophthalmology Society.
Dr. Venzara performs all surgeries at Cape Canaveral Hospital.

In his free time, Dr. Venzara enjoys spending time with his wife, Juliet, and their four precious children. Dr. Venzara is an avid fisherman, surfer, wakesurfer and loves just about anything outdoors. Dr. Venzara is also involved in mission work. He has performed numerous eye surgeries in Mexico, Haiti, and Nicaragua.

Dr. Venzara had the joy of serving those in Managaua, Nicaragua alongside his mentor, Dr. Richard Feist, where he performed complicated retinal detachment repairs. Dr. Venzara is grateful for the many great doctors and mentors over the past years that have given him the knowledge along with the medical and surgical skills to take care of complex eye disease. Dr. Venzara is thankful and privileged to be serving his hometown community of Brevard County.
